I LOVED this movie! Everything about it. The plot was so different than anything Hallmark typically does. The cast was phenomenal. I absolutely loved the double love story. It was brilliant.
For those that haven't watched it yet, here is a bit of an overview of the two overlapped stories. A cafe owner Megan (Vandervoort) learns that her father figure friend Frank (Lennix) found a picture of his lost love. It is a lady her knew almost 50 years ago. Megan, recently single herself, convinces Frank that they should go on a trip to find Frank's long lost love. They end up in a small town in an inn owned and operated by Steve (Matter). What follows is a journey of past love and future love.
I loved this storyline. There was a heavy emphasis on the older couple and I thought this was such a change. The emphasis wasn't so much on Megan and Steve, but more on the "daughter/father" relationship between Frank and Megan, as well as Frank finding his long lost love. The relationship between Steve and Megan was a smaller yet very lovely part of the movie.
First off, the relationship between Megan (Vandervoort) and Frank (Lennix) was so nice. She befriended him as he would come into her cafe and they developed a father/daughter type of relationship. They were so comfortable together and Vandervoort and Lennix worked well together as father/daughter. They were loving and you could really feel the deepness of their relationship.
One of the best things about this movie was the performance of Lennix. He was brilliant. He was funny, charming, a father figure, listener and confidant. He had such a great dynamic with Vandervoort and his story of lost love was so touching. You could see how nervous he was about seeing her again and he was like a little school boy. He was so great.
Niall Matter had a smaller role in this movie but he was fantastic nonetheless. His second encounter with Megan in the inn was so funny. He was awkward, nervous and was so hilarious. It's not really a side that I've seen him play before and I enjoyed it. He had a great chemistry with Vandervoort and they had a good friendly banter back and forth that made their relationship intriguing to watch.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and it will go on my favourite list for sure.
