Review: I enjoyed this movie. It was really slow at the beginning and I wasn't sure if I would be able to get through it, however as it went along it became more enjoyable and interesting. I really enjoyed the dynamic of the ensemble cast. Every single person in the movie was cast well and they really worked well together.
Mama Belle (Tina Lifford) was magnificent in this role. I absolutely loved her on screen and with her interaction with her granddaughter and daughter. Olivia Washington (Jazmin) was good. She was lovable, quirky and quite enjoyable to watch. I had no clue until after the movie that her father is Denzel Washington! Wow!
The plot of the movie was slow but I have to admit that by the end, I wanted to be at the Christmas block party. It looked like it was alot of fun. Oh and that Christmas dinner? I loved how much emphasis they put on that mac and cheese. I really wanted to eat some of that as it looked so good. I liked how the story was not your typical Hallmark town. It was nice having it set in Harlem and seeing a little more about life in Harlem. The community, the people and the traditions. It was a welcome change to the regular cookie cutter towns Hallmark places their characters in.
Finally...Caleb (Will Adams). Can I tell you that this is what made the movie for me. I have never seen Will Adams on screen before and did he ever shine. I absolutely loved this guy. The way he moved, spoke and looked at Jazmin was gold. I thought he was outstanding. I would love to see him in another role. Although I didn't really feel the chemistry between the two, just because he was so good I was cheering for him to get the girl. I really want to see more of him.
