Review:
I have to admit I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it. People were talking about this one so much over the last few days and how it was good to see these "Desperate Housewives" actors back together. So confession, I've never seen an episode of "Desperate Housewives" so I won't get that same fuzzy feeling people were talking about. Or so I thought. This movie was WAY better that I thought it would be.
Let's start first with the plot. I've mentioned before that I do not like "time travel" type movies. I don't like having a redo in life because of a Christmas wish, and I don't like "what would have happened if" movies. Hallmark has already released a time travel movie this season (Next Stop, Christmas), so I wasn't overly thrilled about another one here.
So...this one wasn't bad. I'll admit it. I liked how the lead Ethan (James Denton) tackled this role. The story was interesting especially with him revealing to Janice (Teri Hatcher) who he was, and working with her instead of just trying to win her...if that makes sense. He was trying to become a better version of himself in the "what if" life and I liked that. I especially liked, closer to the end, when he started to lose his memory of his real life. The emotion expressed by Denton had me in tears at the thought that he would not remember his real life. It was amazing. I really liked that part of the story. And I liked how Teri Hatcher worked hard at helping him try to remember that part of him and how she revealed she did believe him. When she told him that there were people that loved him waiting...TEARS!
The chemistry with Hatcher and Denton was very real and natural. I like how it wasn't forced. They looked so comfortable with each other on screen and their relationship as a couple actually did seem real. I assume this is a result of them working closely on their other little show they did together. Whatever the reason, it worked.
Not a bad movie and worth the watch.
