Review:

I was super excited about this movie because it had two of my favourite Hallmark movie themes...a royal theme and a roadtrip. A recipe for a stellar movie right? Meh. So I liked this movie and the leads but I think it could have been so much better than it was. At times this movie was super slow and I lost interest one or two times. Overall I liked it but it wasn't as amazing as I was hoping it would be.

I have never see Philippa Northeast (Princess Amelia) in a Hallmark movie before and all I need to say is...more please. I really enjoyed her. She was solid in the role of Princess Amelia. She was sweet, funny and lovable. I liked her. I also really enjoyed Brant Daugherty. And most of all, I enjoyed them together. I thought they had good chemistry and were just enjoyable to watch on screen together.

I did find the plot was a tad slow. I did like the road trip and the little stops that they had here in there at the festival and Grady's parents place, however what I found that was unnecessary was her role as a royal. I didn't feel there was enough with that to make it interesting. It didn't change the story in the least for me. I found this more of a road trip story and really had nothing to do with anything royal. Also, why in the world would she even ponder the thought of travelling across country to see this guy? He seems like the biggest jerk. At least meet her halfway. Geez. I didn't like him.

I'll end this with one last thing that I thought was a big miss by Hallmark. All through the movie Grady does act like a bodyguard because that's his job. He protects her and makes sure she is always accompanied. Then all of a sudden he gets to Chicago, meets the stranger she drove across the country to see and then says...ok see you later and heads off to Nebraska to his parents anniversary party? LOL. I found this hilarious. I thought she was to have a body guard at all times? Why would he just say good bye and leave her in a foreign city with a stranger. Big miss.

Anyway, I enjoyed this movie albeit it was slow at times. It is worth at least one viewing.
