Review:
I want to visit Ireland so badly now! Christmas at Castle Hart was filmed in Ireland and it was picturesque and beautiful. The scenery, castles, ambience...amazing.
The movie you ask? I enjoyed this movie. It's a side of Lacey Chabert (Brooke) that I really haven't seen before and I liked it. Brooke and her sister Margot (Ali Hardiman) lose their jobs and decide to go to Ireland to research their roots. While there Margot tells Aiden (Townsend) and his sister that they are elite party planners. From there it is a funny, mixed up story of a case of "mistaken" identity as Brooke takes on the identity of party planner Paige Monahan.
The movie was quirky and funny. Not too surprised, as I found out after I watched it, that once again Paul Campbell had his hand in co-writing this project. After his success with "An Unexpected Christmas", it looks like he had a strong part in making this one funny as well.
The story was quite funny at the beginning and then in the middle somewhere it started to slow down and drag a bit. Thankfully the ending was sweet and everything was wrapped up nicely.
Chabert and Hardiman were quite charming as sisters. Hardiman was a bit silly at times but it worked. Comedy was not something I thought Chabert would be able to pull off but let me tell you, she was quite enjoyable in this role. She had some great lines, and really seemed natural. There were some really funny scenes when the movie first started and some great one liners. "We're from New York" with a shoulder shrug. Great delivery by Chabert which had me laughing. Another nice moment was when they were just escorted into their rooms at the castle and the girls were jumping with glee on the bed...that was so funny. The relationship between the sisters was charming and natural.
Stuart Townsend was just ok. Nothing really stood out to me with his performance. Don't get me wrong he wasn't horrible however he didn't stand out either. There was minimal chemistry between him and Chabert and it really just seemed more like a solid friendship more than anything romantic. I still wanted them to work things out and get together at the end...obviously, but their chemistry was lukewarm at best.
This one isn't a top 10 for me however it was funny, scenic and a great storyline. Definitely worth watching at least one time.
