Christmas In My Heart

Network: Hallmark Movies & Mysteries

Synopsis: Concert violinist Beth (Hemmens) tutors the daughter of reclusive Country music star Sean (Macfarlane) to prep her for the holiday concert. They are joined through the connective power of music. Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review: Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. This is the first of Hallmark's 2021 Miracle's of Christmas movie lineup and all I need to say is well done Hallmark.

Luke Macfarlane, a Hallmark regular plays a reclusive country music star who is raising his 11 year old daughter after recently losing his wife. Macfarlane is so amazing in this role. His relationship with his daughter is phenomenal. He is supportive, funny, and understanding which carries through to his other relationships he has in this movie. He is a musician in real life (cello and guitar) however that doesn't really come through with this movie. His singing was mediocre at best however I can let that and his on-again/off-again accent slide as he is believable as a lost widower trying to find a new normal for himself and his daughter.

Heather Hemmens hasn't been in too many movies that I've seen however after this movie, I bet we will see more of her. She is struggling with the loss of her mother and accepts a temporary teaching job while pursuing her passion of playing classical music. She is outstanding in this role. Her relationship with Sean's daughter Katie (Maria Nash) is sweet and she instantly falls into the role of teacher and confident to the little girl. And can we talk about that white dress she wore at the concert? Wow. She looked amazing!

The supporting cast in this film were exceptional. Maria Nash who played Katie was cute, funny and was enjoyable to watch. Her relationship with her grandmother Ruthie (Sheryl Lee Ralph) was strong, open and loving. Sheryl Lee Ralph was phenomenal as usual and had me laughing a few times at some of her one-liners.

The chemistry between Sean (Macfarlane) and Beth (Hemmens) was just electric. From the moment they met in the music shop right until the end of the movie these two were just meant to be. I thoroughly enjoyed every interaction with these two and loved the back and forth banter they had.

Overall this movie was a strong opening to the Miracles of Christmas lineup. If you haven't seen it yet I would definitely recommend this one.
