Review:

So I guess it was the weekend for Emilie Ullerup movies as I watched this one as well as "Winter Castle" this past weekend.

Both movies did not disappoint me either!

I said this in my review of Winter Castle and I will say it again. I LOVE Emilie Ullerup. There is something about her on screen that I just buy into every time I see her. She was wonderful in "Don't Forget I Love You". In fact she was responsible for most of the enjoyment in this movie as she was spectacular. In this role her character Taylor is a seriously anxious woman who tries to to plan and control every aspect of her life, and career, to ensure she stays within her comfort zone. Emilie's portrayal was spot on. She was anxious, witty, neurotic, funny, lovable. You name it she offered it. I was all in with her for this role and can't say enough of how she ran with this role.

Taylor (Ullerup) just turned 30...ok Hallmark I'm not that stupid, the actress is closer to 40, but I digress. Anyway Taylor has a birthday and is given a time capsule from her deceased mom...cue my tears. In it her mother has 6 challenges for her to complete in hopes of helping her get out of her comfort zone. During her first challenge she meets Josh (Clayton James) and they form a quick friendship and work together through these challenges.

I enjoyed this plot albeit I have to admit that it wasn't overly exciting. The way it was written was slow and tedious but it actually worked. I felt like this was happening like it would in real life. It was natural. It somehow just came together and made for a good movie. I can't really explain it but I loved it even though it was a bit slow.

The chemistry with Ullerup and James, who I don't recall seeing before, was ok. James was good in the role of a single father and complemented Ullerup's character very well. I enjoyed their interactions with each other and watching them spend time together trying to achieve some of her challenges. The last scene in the gym was so amazing. I re-watched it two times as I just loved watching them how they felt about each other.

One thing I would like to point out was the scene at the suspension bridge. So this was filmed at the Capilano Suspension bridge in B.C. I've actually been there and walked across this bridge and the view is just as magnificent as it was in the movie. Ullerup's reaction to being afraid of heights is 100% warranted! I behaved very similar to her when I went on that bridge too! It was absolutely terrifying and to think there is not much holding that together and have it sway under your feet hundreds of kilometres above a stream is terrifying! I have never been so happy to set foot on solid ground. The fear was real in her everyone. That place is scary!

As much as I liked it there were two things that really bothered me. Not to the point that it made me hate the movie, but they were bad nonetheless. The first was...what was the deal with Emilie Ullerup's dark roots? I don't know if there's a style that I somehow missed but my goodness it was awful. I was so distracted by her hair at first and, to be honest, for alot of the movie. Not only her, but Clayton James needed a haircut badly! I thought both were just awful and two thumbs way down for whoever was in charge of hair in this movie.

The second thing that was just plain ugh happened right after the Goat yoga. Who knew goat yoga was a thing? It's pretty cute. Anyway right after they are sitting outside against her car they used green screens to depict a mountain scenery!!! And not even good scenery but plain as day fake scenery? This movie was filmed in British Columbia for goodness sake so I'm not sure why they even pondered the thought of using green screens. It was so bad.

So overall a solid movie. Some may find it slow but somehow this made it work for me. Yes it was slow but somehow it felt like it should be as the story and evolution of the characters and plot was very natural. It was a nice change to some of the typical Hallmark movies and I would watch this again.
