Review:

Well this was a first. A movie that had a pretty big focus on butterflies. I love butterflies but when you add Kevin McGarry in a movie with butterflies...how can you go wrong?

This movie was original for sure. I found the story different and surprisingly educational. I did find it was slow and the plot was also at times weak, but there was something more about this movie than just that for me. From the moment that Emily (Wallace) and Garrett (McGarry) meet you could feel the chemistry. The spark was there from the first look all the way until the last kiss. The chemistry was fantastic. It certainly helps that Wallace and McGarry are a real-life couple. Knowing this made it that much more special seeing the spark and them "falling in love" on screen. Wallace and McGarry do work together on When Calls the Heart but their characters don't really have much interaction with each other. I've often wondered how they would be on screen and boy did I love it. I'm thinking WCTH needs to have a little more interaction with Fiona and Nathan in the future!

I liked the educational aspect of the butterflies and the scenery in the movie was great. The CGI of the butterflies was, at some points, way too obvious but I'll overlook that too. I did find that the competing butterfly lady was a bit too much for my liking and the neat little bow at the end where they work together...not so believable for me but at least they got the butterflies for the wedding right?

What didn't I like??? That bride! Oh my I didn't like her at all but I guess you really weren't supposed to so mission accomplished there. I also didn't buy into the ex-girlfriend. The entire time she was on screen I just didn't see her as a plausible girlfriend/ex for Garrett at all. I also didn't understand what dilemma he thought he had around her. I saw literally no chemistry between them so I couldn't see why he spent so much time debating on whether he should get back together with her. To me this was just filler and the "conflict" that Hallmark thinks they need in the story. I didn't buy any of it and I just didn't like it at all.

Kayla Wallace was fantastic. It was her first leading Hallmark role and she did extremely well. Her vulnerability was evident and she had an ease about her that I instantly liked. She was sweet, funny and vulnerable. A perfect role for her. I also loved Kevin in this role. Those eyes...my goodness. He says alot with those eyes. And the two of them together were great. They did alot with a plot that was a little weak and I would definitely be interested in seeing them in another movie together.
