Review:

I'm a sucker for a movie that stars real life partners. In "Love On Trend" we have real life husband/wife duo Giles & Jocelyn Panton. I have seen Giles in so many supporting roles but we finally have him as a lead.

Allie (Jocelyn Panton) is a fashion designer trying to get her designs noticed. One day she drops her phone in the trash compactor...yes I know this is STUPID! Anyway, phone goes bye-bye and she gets a new phone. With the new phone comes a new phone number. Not sure how in today's cell market she would be forced to get a new number, but nevertheless she does. It just so happens that the new phone number used to belong to famous fashion designer Cassie and she ends up using that to her advantage to get into some pretty elite events. While at an event Colin (Giles Panton), who also works in fashion, takes Allie's portfolio thinking that it belongs to Cassidy. Allie gets it back but not before Colin looks through it, loves it, and then convinces her to work with him on Cassidy's account as her "assistant" because Cassidy has disappeared and he doesn't want to let people know that she is AWOL. She goes along pretending to work for Cassidy in hopes that her fashion line will also be seen. In true fashion you know the rest. She gets found out, has to leave the big event, eventually has her designs seen, and gets the guy.

So the premise is a bit ridiculous but it worked. It worked because Giles Panton and Jocelyn Panton were great. They had fabulous chemistry and really sold the movie for me. Not to mention that I was pleasantly surprised that the supporting cast included Amanda Wong from When Calls The Heart. Loved that she was in the movie.

The movie was predictable, especially when Allie finds out the real connection between Colin and Cassie, but that aside I enjoyed it. I did find that Cassie was a bit over the top and I just didn't get any couple vibe from her and Colin at all. In fact when she finally showed up I spent a few minutes just trying to figure out how they would have even possibly been a couple as they just didn't seem like a fit.

Can I just mention that the dance just looked super awkward. 😆

A good movie. Great to see Giles Panton in a lead role instead of always being the guy that loses the girl. Great chemistry and great performances.
