Review: Let's get something out of the way first here. I was really excited that Lea Thompson and Christopher Lloyd were going to act together again. I really loved them way back in the day for the "Back to the Future" movies, so I was excited to see them together. Not to mention that Hallmark really pushed the "reunion" of the two in their promos. But...NOT EVEN ONE SCENE TOGETHER!!!!! Seriously? This was a major let down IMO. I was really disappointed that they let the chance of this reunion fall super flat. I don't know why it was pumped up in promos of the "reunion" when they literally had nothing to do with each other. OK I realize that they didn't have major interaction in the "Back to the Future" movies, but the way it was hyped up I expected more.
OK. The lack of reunion aside, I'm not generally a fan of going back in time or "see your future" roles, but this actually won me over. Overall the story was good, it flowed really well, the acting was solid and the chemistry was good. I also liked how they wrote this time travel story. It wasn't just showing her what could have been, she could actually rewrite her history and I really liked that.
Can we talk about Lea Thompson right now? She was amazing in this role. Not to mention that she looks absolutely fabulous at a young 60. She stole many scenes in the movie and I found her outstanding. Her expressions, delivery of words, mannerisms..you name it...she was fabulous. I kept looking at her and thinking man she looks amazing. She was perfect for this role.
Christopher Lloyd. A great role for him playing the conductor. He admittedly looks old but ok...he is. But he was just as great in the role as he was as Doc way back in the 1980s. Loved the little wink at the end of the movie. That was a nice touch.
On to the main leads of the movie. Lyndsy Fonseca and Chandler Massey were great. Their friendship was believable and they had a great dynamic on screen. The chemistry was there and I was definitely rooting for them by the end of the movie. They both had great performances.
The script and scenery of this movie were amazing. I particularly really loved how they introduced Massey's character at the beginning, and then "reintroduced" him at the end after she got back to present day. When they were on the phone call as time was running out...I wanted him to get to her before time run out! Not to mention I LOVED the ending scene in the restaurant. Absolutely amazing movie and you will not be disappointed.
