Review: I was really looking forward to this movie. I liked how the cast was over 40ish and the story line was intriguing. Not to mention that Allison Sweeney is one of my favourite Hallmark actresses. I don't think I've seen any movie that I haven't liked so far from her over the last few years. If you haven't seen "Love on the Air"...you have to. By far one of the best movies by her. Oh and any movie she does with Marc Blucas...worth the watch.
Anyway, this movie was ok. It was a tad slow if I am honest however it was overall enjoyable. I did enjoy the more mature cast and to be honest, the acting was far more superior than most of these movies. Allison Sweeney was solid in this role...but not a surprise there. Brennan Elliot isn't my favourite Hallmark actor however he was pretty good as well. They had a good quirky and comfortable connection albeit I'm not sold that there was really any romantic spark. Having said that, the last scene with them was very romantic and sweet....but I kind of have to give that one to Allison Sweeney for her emotional performance.
The subplot of the surprise gift for Simone from her fiance was good. It was really a sweet gesture and so thoughtful. I chuckled when the surprise was revealed to her and she kind of skipped and said "Yay me!" I thought that was funny. I also liked the friendship between Nicky and Simone. It really did seem like they had been friends since childhood. They were very comfortable around each other. Made it very believable.
I do think more could have been done with the main story line. There didn't, in my opinion, seem to be enough sleuthing to find out who sent the letter. I would have liked to have seen more interaction with possible suitors, and more depth in the story line in that capacity. I thought it was a little weak. When she approached any possible person it was quickly over. A few seconds of digging and then...nope not him. Not enough meat for me. It would have been nice if she spent more of the movie sure it was one particular guy and then found out later...nope not him.
Anyway, it is worth the watch. I don't really think it will be one that goes in a regular rotation for me but it was enjoyable nonetheless.
