Meg stayed in their hometown of Hazelwood, helping their parents run the local bakery. This Christmas is the family’s first since the passing of Uncle Dave who owned the town’s beloved theater, The Madison, where many memories were made over the years. When Jennifer and Simon return home for the holiday, they become wistful for one more Christmas at The Madison, despite that it’s for sale and in need of repairs. Review:
Surprisingly I was totally underwhelmed by this movie. Perhaps my expectations were high but nevertheless I didn't enjoy this movie. I was so looking forward to seeing the Williams sisters in a movie together, but even Ashley Williams big grin and bubbly personality couldn't save this movie for me.
Chemistry just wasn't really apparent between Williams-Paisley and Deklin. In general I absolutely adore Mark Deklin. That guy has the ability to just win you over with his eyes and smile. He looks at his leading ladies with such intensity that it's hard not to be won over by this guy. Yes he was the same in this movie but in general there wasn't much development between the two characters. They had some moments where there was a little spark but overall not enough for me. Yes the movie theatre scene where she gets her first kiss is great but other than that they were just lukewarm to me.
Plotwise...what was going on here? I have to admit I got lost at points and I didn't know what the point of the movie was. I honestly didn't even see the need with Ashley Williams' character at all in this movie. The movie was completely about Paisley-Williams journey and I found her phone calls and relationship development with Ashley Williams was totally unnecessary. I understand they are building up for her side of the story so hopefully the next movie will explain what this series is about, but this one just didn't make sense, was all sorts of confusing, and just didn't peak my interest.
