Review:

The Christmas Contest brought back together Candace Cameron Bure and John Brotherton. They played a couple in Fuller House so I was interested to see if the dynamic that they had on that show would follow through into this movie. Brotherton and Cameron Bure played exes who compete against each other in a Christmas charity contest.

My overall thought, it was not good and yet it wasn't bad. It was ok.

While the movie did have some good humour in it, I just wasn't feeling this movie with Brotherton in the role as leading man. There was something about him that I didn't quite like. He had ok chemistry with Bure but something about him in general just didn't do it for me. Bure was good but this was definitely not one of her better movies.

For me the best thing about this movie was the older ladies that worked together with Cameron Bure during the contest. I enjoyed seeing them have some fun together and build their relationship. Yes they were supporting characters but I thought they were more enjoyable to watch then the leads.

The ending with the upside down tree was really nice. That was a bit unexpected and I thought that was great. Having the contest end in a tie is such a cop-out though. I actually did an eye roll when they announced it as I think it was a lame way to end it. They had been such adversaries at the beginning and both were fighting hard to win, only to have them both kind of bow out of the competition and split the prize? No thanks.

Mediocre movie which may have been better if there was a different lead actor. Worth watching once but definitely not on my top "must see" list.
