Review:
Well it's close to Halloween so I figured I should try and squeeze in a couple Halloween type movies. I stumbled upon this one by accident and thought I would give it a try. First let me say that I was happy to see that it starred Nikki DeLoach who is definitely one of my favourite Hallmark actresses. I was equally as happy when I saw Ryan McPartlin. I have seen him in a few movies now and boy do I like him. So it was time to sit back and see what this movie was about.
I have to say that I enjoyed this movie. The movie that I watched was far different then the synopsis I read. I thought I was watching a movie about a guy trying to find a girl he met at a party. What I wasn't expecting was that this same guy was actually a Warlock who was entering into an arranged marriage with another witch so he wouldn't lose his powers at 36 if he was still unmarried. And that this particular guy ended up transferring his powers to this new girl when he kissed her. Interesting right? What followed after realizing this was a cute movie. There was a bit of magic that added to the intrigue and humour. Enough to give me a Halloween movie kind of vibe.
The chemistry between McPartlin and DeLoach was great. You could feel their interest from the first moment they met at the party. They spent all evening...into the morning...just talking and enjoying their time spent together. Unfortunately most of the movie had these two would be love birds apart which was a shame. I would have liked to see more of them as they sparkled together on screen.
I felt the plot was ok and light. There was enough to keep me interested at least. I felt the ending with his best friend was just thrown together and would have liked to see more laid out there with his family and with Briana Lane's character. The magic in the movie I thought was a bit mediocre and more could have been done to highlight his abilities. The part when he had tea spilled on his shirt and he removed it? Although enjoyable really had no need to be in the movie.
For a lighter Halloween movie that doesn't have all the gore and blood, this movie should do the trick. It is entertaining, has elements of magic and mystery, all mixed in with a little bit of romance.
