My thoughts on WCTH S9E8
So E8 was probably by far the best episode of the season. Don't get me wrong it wasn't stellar by any means, but at least we had somewhat of a story-line, and the episode had a lot of Nathan!
Here's what happened is E8
E finds out from the Yosts that Mei might be married. She talks to Lucas who said he already knew and didn't tell anyone because it was told to him in confidence. Wow. Much respect for Lucas here. E then ruins it with her over the top mauling of Lucas. Why do they need to kiss every single scene? I want the old Elizabeth back.
Out on the street there is a long moment with no dialogue between Nathan, Mei, Jeffrey Lewis and Elizabeth. Loved this scene. No dialogue but very well done. I've probably watched this scene 5 times
Mei finally explains her story and boy was I under whelmed. All the suspense for 7 episodes and ultimately it wasn't that fascinating. Don't know why it couldn't have been handled in one episode. Nevertheless this made for a truly lovely scene between Mei and Nathan while she confided in him.
Jeffrey demands that Nathan arrest Mei on her outstanding warrants. Not sure why he didn't do it before. It's his job and he shouldn't have been forced to do his job by someone else.
Nathan arrests Mei and they have some really nice talks while she is in jail. I am really enjoying how open they are with each other. It's a different side to Nathan and he seems so comfortable with her.
Nathan sends a telegram and makes some calls and then finds out that Jeffrey is already married and abandoned his wife. Mei is free. Seriously? That's all the work it took? What a lost opportunity on this story line. What about a big dramatic show down? Some drama? I would have loved to have seen so much more with this story. The hype behind her story was so large and it was such a let down for me.
Once free Mei throws herself into Nathan's arms in a real hug. Eyes closed and big smile. Nathan looked like he enjoyed it. LOVED THIS! Finally a real meaningful hug for our Mountie.
Apparently Lucas is also a great teacher. 🙄
Other notable things
Hickham asks Faith to church and she accepts without hesitation. I'm liking this pairing.
Lee admits that he made a mistake with Hickham and writes a new editorial.
Lee and Rosemary spend most of their screen time at the newspaper again. Outside of the Romeo and Juliet costumes they wear, this is getting boring for me. They need a life outside of work.
Bill is in some serious pain, coughs blood and receives some cough syrup. Faith is worried that there are broken ribs but can't make a diagnosis without an xray.
Fiona is still not in Hope Valley.
Bill drinks too much cough syrup and offers some fabulous comic relief. One of my favourite things during this episode. This was funny.
Everyone celebrates Thanksgiving dinner and gets some family photos. Nathan and Allie get a nice family picture and then Allie pulls Mei into the photo. How convenient.
Little Jack is a scene stealer again when playing with the Dreidel and also while getting his photo taken.
One last HV surprise..a Christmas tree arrives in town and no one knows who did it. Bill's April Fools surprise.
